The Things We Carried Exhibition

Marking a New Chapter at Emporium B Gallery - Celebrating Brazilian Women Artists in the 6th Women+ Festival – The Things We Carried.

This May, Emporium B Gallery proudly marked the beginning of a new chapter under its new identity by hosting inspiring cultural events as part of the 6th Women+ Festival – The Things We Carried, in collaboration with Centro Cultural Brasil-USA (CCBU) and Inffinito.

From May 15 to 22, our gallery presented a powerful art exhibition curated by Liana Rivas, featuring works by Ana Biondo, Adriana Carvalho, Bella Cardim, Claudia Vieira, Fernanda Fróes, Heloisa Maia, and Silvana Soriano. These outstanding Brazilian women artists explored themes of migration, identity, and belonging, offering deeply personal reflections on displacement, cultural memory, and transformation. The exhibition gave voice to those who cross borders in search of a new home, highlighting the emotional and political layers of migratory journeys.

As part of the festival program, Emporium B Gallery also hosted two special WOMEN+ TALKS, each offering a unique space for dialogue, connection, and empowerment:

May 17 – Women+ Talks: Leadership & Gender Equality

An inspiring conversation on leadership and gender equality with Dr. Tanira Ferreira, Chief Medical Officer of the University of Miami Health System, and Valeria Sorrentino, Head of Arrivals and Departures for FIFA. The discussion was moderated by Camila Quaresma-Sharp, Business Development Director at Sharp Dentistry, and offered insights into the challenges and achievements of women in high-level leadership roles.

May 20 – Women+ Talks: Art, Migration & Identity

An interactive talk with the participating artists Adriana Carvalho, Bella Cardim, Claudia Vieira, Fernanda Fróes, Heloisa Maia, and Silvana Soriano, moderated by Evelyn Politzer. Held inside the exhibition space, this conversation explored how art becomes a tool to reflect on the complexities of belonging, memory, and cultural displacement through a feminine lens.

The 6th Women+ Festival Miami was created to elevate and amplify the voices of women—especially Brazilian women—in the global creative landscape. Featuring films, exhibitions, and talks, the festival centers women’s experiences and opens up vital conversations about visibility, opportunity, and equity in the arts and beyond.

We are honored to have launched this exciting new phase of Emporium B Gallery with such a meaningful celebration of female talent, culture, and resilience.
